Why this one
The bit you already remember
A tennis ball was too light, so you taped it, and a taped ball came off the pitch fast and skidded and hurt your fingers in the cold. Whoever owned the tape decided when the game started.
One continuous band of blue electrical tape spiralling from base to rim, with the overlap and the slight wrinkle on the inside of each turn drawn exactly as it actually happened.
Underneath, where the tape leaves a gap, a bare patch of tennis-ball yellow — because the whole trick was leaving one side unwrapped so it swung.
In 450ml the spiral has one more turn. This was not necessary and we did it anyway.
